These safe work practices are part of the College of Marins Injury and Illness Prevention Program and are required by Cal/OSHA. Employees shall follow these safe work practices while performing work activities at all times.

- Teaching staff should wear gloves whenever they are required to touch any bodily fluids.
- The main walking paths and floors should be kept clean and clear of any debris to avoid slipping and tripping fall hazards. Wet floors should be dried immediately.
- All children's center staff should wash and disinfect their hands often to avoid the spread of germs.
- Staff should have current first aid and CPR certificates. These should be renewed each year.
- If staff notice faulty or broken equipment, they should promptly take it out of use and report it to their supervisor or manager. Similarly, if staff identify a hazardous condition that could endanger students or other employees, they should report it immediately.
- Cabinets storing chemicals /cleaning solutions shall always be locked or stored in an inaccessible area to students.
