These safe work practices are part of the College of Marins Injury and Illness Prevention Program and are required by Cal/OSHA. Employees shall follow these safe work practices while performing work activities at all times.

- Always start with warm-ups to prepare muscles and joints for activity. Similarly, cool down after exercise to gradually lower heart rate and prevent soreness.
- Seek guidance from instructors or coaches to ensure proper technique is being performed to avoid injury.
- Stay hydrated; drink water before, during and after physical activity.
- Use protective equipment when needed such as weight belts, helmets, knee & elbow pads, mouthguards and gloves
- Secure all cords and cables to avoid tripping or falling.
- Ensure you are aware of where emergency exits, AEDs and first aid kits are located.
